Morgan Spurlock in
Casablanca - 2006 |

Where in the
World is
Osama bin Laden?
Produced & Directed by: Morgan Spurlock
Morocco
Shooting: October
2006
1
Since September 11, 2001, the American government has been
searching for Osama bin Laden around the world. Seven years
later, the search continues to no avail; it is seemingly
impossible to find him. Morgan Spurlock, the director and
producer of the well known film-documentary “Super Size Me”,
took the initiative to search for the most wanted man on the
planet, bin Laden. His search took him tog in many countries
in Europe, Asia, North Africa and the Middle East. On his
journey, Spurlock shot nearly 800 hours of digital footage,
resulting in an interesting film-documentary,
“Where in
the World
is Osama bin Laden?”.

Immigration: Paco's story

In 1999, Belkacem (Paco),
a young Moroccan from Khouribga, decided to go to Europe. He
had dreams of a bright and successful future and hoped to
take advantage of the many opportunities he predicted
awaited him. Unfortunately, Paco, just as many others like
him, could not afford to safely enter Europe; he tried to
reach Spain illegally with 20 other Moroccans in a small,
unseaworthy boat. Paco’s dreams were shattered in the
resulting tragedy—over 14 of his friends would die during
the trip, and Paco’s life would never be the same.

Un-wed Mothers
By
Katinka Nowotny - Journalist
ORF - Austrian Television

In
December 2006, Katinka Nowotny,
from ORF TV, took an interest in Moroccan women.
Women in Moroccan society is a topic too vast and complex to
cover in one study, so Nowothy narrowed her topic and
focused her research on the lives of un-wed mothers in
Morocco. She revealed their suffering by covering what it is
like to live in a society where talking about such matters
and single parenting is a big taboo. Nowotny affiliated her
research with two associations, Solidarité Féminine and
INSAF. Through these associations, she was able to interview
several un-wed mothers as well as the heads of the
associations, Aich Ech-Chenna, who spent more than 47 Years
working with unwed mothers in Morocco, and Nabila Tbeur,
the manager of INSAF.
