Official Permit
1 |
|
The Moroccan Cinema Centre (CCM), which is based in Rabat,
gives official permission/authorization to local &
international TV channels and production companies. This
permit is required for any and all filming done in Morocco,
and harsh fines are imposed for violations of this law.
Additionally, there are several regions of Morocco that
require additional permits and authorizations
(see map).
1
The Moroccan Cinema Centre is the only organization
authorized to give out these permits, so it is necessary to
fill out a request for a permit and return it to the CCM. Be
sure to note the tariffs imposed for filming in Morocco (see
link to price scale below), though permits for TV-only
filming are free of charge. All requests should be sent to
the CCM at least 10 days before beginning filming.

We suggest making some copies of your permit and keep them
available in case you are asked. This is the best solution
to avoid pointless confrontations and wasted time with the
police. Before being granted any additional permits or
authorizations (see below), you must have first received
this one. It is also important to have this permit so that
you can ask for help in case of any problems.
MPN TV can assist you throughout the entire process. Our
staff can save you time and money by making all follow-up
calls to make sure that you receive the shooting permit on
time and with maximum convenience.

The Department of Museums and Monuments at the Cultural
Affairs Ministry is the only official authority that can
give permission to shoot in museums, archaeological sites,
and historic monuments in Morocco. There is no point in
negotiating to shoot in Moroccan museums unless you have
already received official permission from the Cultural
Affairs Ministry.

Foreign Press Department
The Foreign Press Department is what facilitates contact
between foreign media and the Moroccan government. Its main
task is to help TV & film crews, journalists, and
photographers establish official contact with the palace to
cover royal activities, ministries, etc. It can also help
with contacting members of the Moroccan government if
needed.

Shooting Equipment - Customs
Before leaving, make sure to send a list of your equipment
and the date of your arrival by fax to the Foreign Press
Department (Communications Ministry), which will in turn
inform the Customs Office. Informing the Moroccan Customs
Office in advance is very important because it will save
costly and difficult problems when entering the country.
