Religious holiday dates change every year according to the Muslim Lunar Calendar.

The Gregorian calendar advances 11 days closer to the Muslim Lunar Calendar every year.Edi

The Religious ministry, however, makes the final decision about the date of each religious holiday the night before the holiday occurs.

 

  • Aid Al Adha (Aïd el-Khebir), the Feast of Abraham’s Sacrifice

  • Aid Al Mawlid, the Prophet’s Birthday

  • Ramadan, a month-long celebration throughout Morocco where the day is spent fasting, and then the sunset is joyously welcomed with an abundance of food

  • Eid al-Fitr, the end of Ramadan

  • Pelegrinage Day
