Telephone
Public
telephones, either outdoors or in teleboutiques, can
be easily found all around Morocco, both of which
open from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM. The cheapest option
is to purchase cards which contain minutes from any
of the countless teleboutiques or participating food
stands. These cards can then be used at any of the
widely available public telephones.
1
Mobile
telephones are also available at a relatively
inexpensive price, starting at roughly 200 DH
(approximately $25). Choose from the three Moroccan
mobile providers: Maroc Telecom, Meditel or Wana.
Once you have chosen a provider, purchase minutes
from a teleboutique, a system similar to that used
for public phones. Mobile minutes can be recharged
as often as needed.

Morocco
Country Code: 212

To call
Morocco from anywhere in the USA or Canada, dial
011, followed by the country (212), and then the
number you wish to call. From the other parts of the
world, dial 00, followed by 212, then the number you
wish to call.
Internet
Cyber Cafés
have become very popular in Moroccan cities, even if
in the country side. The minimum rate per hour is 7
DH/ 0.7 Euros maxim is 20 DH/ 2 Euros (5 to 8 Euros
in 5 stars hotel). If you prefer to use your own
laptop, you can ask for a cable in the cyber café
and connect to the internet directly.
1
Occasionally
you might find a cyber café that has wifi. Recently
in Morocco, especially in the larger cities, cyber
cafés have opened that provide wifi for free; just
bring your laptop, pay the café’s flat rate, and
then you can use the internet at your leisure.
1
FYI: In
Rabat, most of the cafés that provide wifi are in
Agdal, and in Casablanca, they are in Maarif.

There were
7,600,000 Moroccan Internet users as of March 2008,
15.2% of the population, per ITU.
